about kin resort

Does Kin Resort have a private beach?
No, we have chosen not to have a private beach due to the frequent natural occurrences such as seaweed, sargassum, and plastic pollution brought in by currents, which can make the sea conditions less than ideal for swimming. We believe that Placencia is not primarily a beach destination but rather a gateway to pristine islands like Ranguana, Mojo, Laughing Bird, and others, where the beaches are enchanting and consistently clean. To provide our guests with an enjoyable alternative, we have created a beautiful beach-style pool, surrounded by ancient trees and lush tropical forest. Our pool offers a relaxing and idyllic spot for you to unwind and take in the natural beauty of the surrounding area.

What about if I want to go to the beach?
Certainly! If you wish to enjoy the public beach, it's just a 2-minute walk in front of our property. We can even arrange sunbeds for you on the public beach for your convenience. Additionally, we have special arrangements with our neighboring resorts, Naia Resort and Azure del Mar, where you can access their beaches and sunbeds by simply consuming some drinks at their bar. This way, you can experience the beach and seaside ambiance to the fullest.

Kin Resort doesn't have a restaurant on-site. How can I access dining options?
While we don't have a restaurant within the resort, we have convenient options for you to enjoy delicious meals. We've established a special arrangement with Syrenian Bay Restaurant, located just a 2-minute walk from our property. Additionally, we offer a complimentary shuttle service to Azure del Mar, a beachfront restaurant. This means that you can savor mouthwatering dishes and delightful dining experiences as if you were a guest at their hotels. We aim to ensure that your culinary desires are well taken care of during your stay with us.

Is safe to rent a car in Belize? Can i rent a car with Kin Resort?
We do not rent cars directly at Kin Resort. However, there are rental car companies available in the Placencia Peninsula. If you wish to rent a car, we can certainly help you arrange it.
However, we strongly advise against renting a car and self-driving in Belize. The roads can be treacherous, filled with potholes, poor signage, and unexpected bumps that can be dangerous if hit at high speeds. It's especially hazardous at night due to low visibility. Moreover, experiencing vehicle breakdowns in remote jungle areas without access to cell phone reception can be inconvenient and may disrupt your travel plans.
For your safety and peace of mind, we highly recommend opting for guided tours instead of venturing out on your own. Your well-being is our top priority.

Can i use local transportation?
Absolutely, Belize has a network of local buses that connect various regions, including Placencia. However, it's essential to note that these buses are often crowded, mainly with construction workers, which can make the journey less comfortable. Due to the crowded nature of these buses, passengers might even have to stand during the trip. Additionally, the buses can get a bit odorous due to the workers who often board after a long day's work.
For a more comfortable and pleasant travel experience, we recommend using a reputable bus company like Floralia. Although it may be slightly pricier, it caters more to tourists, providing a better and more suitable option. Your comfort and safety are important to us, and we want to ensure you have an enjoyable experience when traveling around Belize.

Are there venomous snakes in Belize?
Yes, Belize is home to various snake species, including some that are venomous and potentially dangerous. It's important to be aware of these creatures and take precautions to ensure a safe experience during your stay.

Venomous Snake Species:
Belize is home to eight potentially lethal snake species, including the Central American Coral Snake, Maya Coral Snake, Eyelash Viper, Hognose Viper, Jumping Viper, Mexican Moccasin, and Neotropical Rattlesnake. These snakes possess venom that can pose risks to human health if encountered.

Preventive Measures:
To minimize the likelihood of snake encounters, consider the following steps:

Stay on Trails: Stick to established trails when hiking or exploring natural areas. Avoid venturing into dense vegetation.
Wear Protective Clothing: When walking in natural areas, wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, and long-sleeved shirts to reduce exposure.
Use Flashlights: Carry a flashlight when walking at night to avoid accidentally stepping on snakes.
Check Footwear: Before putting on your shoes or boots, shake them out as snakes may seek shelter there.
Avoid Under Rocks and Logs: Refrain from lifting rocks, logs, or debris where snakes may be hiding.
Respect Their Space: Give snakes their space and do not attempt to handle them unless you are a trained professional.
Taking these precautions can help you minimize the chances of encountering venomous snakes in Belize and ensure a safer experience during your visit.
